In 1952, Teton Machine Company was founded by an enterprising tool and die craftsman named Norm Mellor in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Mr. Mellor built the company into a precision machine shop with over 15 screw machines servicing various industries.  In 1979 he sold the company to Rick Rupp who moved it to Payette, Idaho in 1981 to be closer its largest customer HP and others.  Ease of transportation, quality of life, family values of people in the area, and a stable workforce supported the move.  Mr. Rupp’s charismatic style and assertive approach to servicing the customer, coupled with a great workforce driven by quality and attention to detail helped build the company into a strong machining presence in the region.  Mr. Rupp turned over the day to day operations to now President, Andy Oyervides in 1997.  Over the past 10 years, the company has seen a transformation from a screw machine shop to a high precision machining facility.  The transformation began with the removal of all Brown and Sharpe screw machines and the introduction of a Citizen L25 Swiss style lathe in 1999.  Since then the company has grown to over 40 employees and has utilized automation and technology to gain a competitive edge.  Nearly every machine has been replaced since the year 2000.  Using automation and technology to continuously improve and exceed our customers’ expectations has driven our growth and is our guiding principle.

Mr. Rupp remained an absentee owner until 2008 when he sold the company to the employees through as ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).  100% ownership by the employees is also a competitive advantage that will allow the company to provide consistent and stable ownership and direction for many, many years.  The company has a broad base of customers in a variety of industries as part of its growth and sustainability strategy for the long term.  Close to 60 years strong and a regional leader in the machining industry, we’re here to support you!
